SMC Enterprise Limited, a large for-profit subsidiary company of Social Marketing Company is looking for an experienced, energetic, consumer driven and insightful professional who will provide strategic leadership and direction to the Marketing and Sales division under the Consumer Business Category. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination and monitoring of Marketing and Sales activities, developing new business opportunities, and reorganizing to ensure that the sales targets and growth objectives under the Strategic Plan 2020 are more than achieved. The position is based at the HO in Dhaka and reports to the MD.
POSITION TITLE: DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR-CONSUMER BUSINESS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will provide leadership and act as a mentor to the Marketing division and also coordinate and oversee the Sales division which is headed by the GM, Sales and Field Promotion and has its own distribution network that operates through 12 Area offices in the country and reaches out to nearly 200,000 outlets per year including drug stores, groceries and NGOs. The Consumer Business category currently sells a mix of OTC drugs (pills, ORS) and FMCG products (condoms, sanitary napkins) and will soon launch baby diapers, wet tissues, soft drink powder etc. In addition to the Consumer Business category, the company is entering into the prescription pharmaceutical market which will require substantial modification of its sales systems leveraging on existing strengths in terms of structure and human resource.
Broadly the incumbent will-
- Ensure development and implementation of well thought out annual Marketing and Sales plan through coordinated efforts of the Marketing Managers, GM Sales and FP and Area/Regional Managers and other relevant staff that conforms to the objectives of the Strategic Plan 2020.
- Oversee the timely development of all brand promotional materials for both ATL and BTL media by the marketing teams and ensure that they are based on good strategic insights gained from research and field interactions and POS materials that responds to the needs of the field sales staff.
- Supervise the Marketing and Sales senior management staff and ensure that the annual sales targets and objectives are met
- Take a lead in updating the 5 year strategic plan to review existing targets, set targets for new products, set aggressive growth objectives for the company and make necessary course correction.
- Ensure that the requirements of the Marketing and Sales division (e.g. commodity, packaging, distribution, accounts, human resource etc) are met in terms of quantity, quality and timeliness etc through regular and close coordination with other departments and divisions and effective follow up.
- Support the Managing Director on seeking approvals from the Board as required on issues related to Marketing and Sales
- Promote a culture of evidence based decision making and utilization of key consumer and trade insights within the Marketing and Sales
- Act as a Mentor to the Marketing and Sales management team identifying and building high level conceptual and technical skills among key prospects for future leadership
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master Degree required with good academic achievements throughout; MBA in Marketing preferred from any of the top four institutions in Bangladesh or from a accredited University in the US, Canada, UK or Australia;
- Strong background in both Marketing and Sales at a senior level position (GM or Equivalent) during the last 5 years preferably in the FMCG/Food industry with total 20 years of experience
- Demonstrated success in new product launch; marketing and sales innovation; coaching, working effectively with advertising agencies to ensure they come up with the best ideas and develop campaigns that works; engaging and working with local distributors; understanding and using market research; making effective presentation to the Board and in other important forums.
- Hands-on; task and deadline oriented; highly developed conceptual and analytical skills; employee development through mentoring and coaching; persuasive skills; excellent verbal and writing skills in English required.
- Age between 45 and 52; may be relaxed in the case of exceptionally qualified candidates
